FAQs

What is baptism?

The Greek word used for baptism in the Bible is baptizo (bap-tid’-zo; to immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed.

As we immerse you in baptism, we are obeying the command of Jesus and following in the footprints of the early church.

Key question: Have you repented of your sins & accepted Jesus as your Savior?

Can anyone be baptized?

Yes, we believe that baptism is an opportunity for everyone.

We do, however, encourage individuals to understand the decision that they are making.

Galatians 3

26-27 You were all baptized into Christ, and so you were all clothed with Christ. This shows that you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
28 Now, in Christ, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or free, male or female. You are all the same in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4

4 There is one body and one Spirit, and God chose you to have one hope.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.
6 There is one God and Father of us all, who rules over everyone. He works through all of us and in all of us.

Why get baptized?

Jesus said to be baptized.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was baptized.

Matthew 3:16 After Jesus was baptized, He came up immediately out of the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he (John) saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him (Jesus).

Peter told the first church in Acts 2:38 to be baptized

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Can I be re-baptized?

Yes. We often are re-baptized as a sign recommitment or based on our newfound growth or understanding.

Acts 19
3 Paul asked them, “So what kind of baptism did you have?”

They said, “It was the baptism that John taught.”

4 Paul said, “John told people to be baptized to show they wanted to change their lives. He told people to believe in the one who would come after him, and that one is Jesus.”

5 When these followers heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
