The Gift Of God

John 3:16 — For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8-9 — God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Matthew 1:21 — She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

James 4:17 — So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Proverbs 5:21-23

The Lord clearly sees everything you do. He watches where you go. The sins of the wicked will trap them. Those sins will be like ropes holding them back. Evil people will die because they refuse to be disciplined. They will be trapped by their own desires.

Isaiah 59:2 — It is your sins that separate you from your God. He turns away from you when he sees them.

Separation

Romans 3:23 — For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Shortcoming

John 8:34 — Jesus said, The truth is, everyone who sins is a slave—a slave to sin.

Sin’s Slavery

James 1:15 — When a person is carried away with desire, lured by lust, and when desire becomes the focus and takes control, it gives birth to sin. When sin becomes fully grown, it produces death.

John 8:24 — I told you that you would die in your sins. Yes, if you don’t believe that I Am, you will die in your sins.

The sin of today is the sorrow of tomorrow.

— Billy Sunday

Sin is a deadly thing; it is worse than poverty, worse than disease, worse than any worldly misfortune. Sin may promise pleasure, but it delivers only pain and regret. All sin is a desertion of God. Every sin is a turning away from God and a running after something else instead of Him.

— Charles Spurgeon

Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.

— Billy Graham

Romans 5:8 — But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 6:23 — For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 10:8 — For salvation that comes from trusting Christ, which is what we preach— is already within easy reach of each of us; in fact, it is as near as our own hearts and mouths.

Acts 4:12 — Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!

1 John 1:8-9 — If we say that we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. And it is perfectly proper for God to do this for us because Christ died to wash away our sins.

Romans 10:9-10 — If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

2 Corinthians 5:17 — When anyone belongs to Christ, they become a new person. Their old way of life has gone. Their new life has begun!

Colossians 1

20 It was through what his Son did that God cleared a path for everything to come to him—all things in heaven and on earth—for Christ’s death on the cross has made peace with God for all by his blood.

21 This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies and hated him and were separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, yet now he has brought you back as his friends.
